Cruising Do's and Don’t

 

  • Do have a passport
  • Do decide what Cruise to choose: Spend more time on the ship or in land; How do you like to dress, formal or casual attire; What type of food, Gourmet or good food; Destination, great historical places or great beaches; Type dining, alone or with strangers (assigned sitting); A cruise with lot of activities including children’s program or a relaxation one; Money Spending, unlimited budget or money saving; Time spend, more time at sea or each day on a different Port; What is more important about your vacation, Great Ship or Great Destination; Cabin, luxury suite (where you can spend a lot of time) or budget cabin (just to keep your belonging and sleep).
  • Do compare the cost of your cruise to a regular vacation (money spend on air, hotel, dining, activities). In a cruise you have everything (You have dining, fine hotel, entertainment, transportation).
  • Do consider the cabin you book; the nicer the cabin, the more you enjoy your cruise.
  • Do study the ship layout before your cruise vacation.
  • Do understand how the cabins are categorized.
  • Don’t book the cabins closest to the bow or nearest to the stern.
  • Don’t pay the list price if you can avoid it.
  • Do make sure you know what your cruise fare includes.
  • Do book early your shore excursions through your Travel Agent.
  • Do buy insurance if you book your cruise a year ahead, anything can happen; illness, unexpected family commitment.
  • Do book late, cruise line like to book the entire ship, IF you have total flexibility with your itinerary.
  • Don’t travel alone if you want the cheapest fare.
  • Do choose a “Repositioning Cruise” if you want to save money. These cruises start in one point and ends in another.
  • Do book your next cruise while you are on a cruise, you get an onboard credit.
  • Do read through cruise documentations thorouly (this information you get from Cruise line before you cruise vacation).
  • Don’t try to be the first one on board. You will be bored waiting for embark time. Just be on time.
  • Do be sure to bring your boarding documentation to the cruise terminal along with your passport and identification. Don’t pack it in your luggage.
  • Do keep your cruise tags in your luggage; they are very important and easy for the butler to find your room.
  • Do arrive dressed for your first day in the ship because you won’t be seeing your main luggage during the first couple of hours.
  • Do pack your medication in your carry-on bag.
  • Don’t over pack.
  • Don’t try to avoid the safety drill by hiding in your room.
  • Do check Seamless vacation packages in Disney Cruise Line.
  • Do know that Disney cruise is not only for kids.
  • Do enjoy Castaway Cay during your Disney cruise, it is Disney Private Island.
  • Don’t worry about leaving your kids with counselor, parent get to carry a pager if they need to be located.
  • Do try a massage at Castaway Cay.
  • Don’t be afraid to request your desire dish.
  • Do make restaurant reservation ahead of time.
  • Do try all 5 specialty restaurant that some Princess cruise have to offer. You can order food from one restaurant and get it at the other.
  • Do seek for your favorite food once you are on board.
  • Do let the travel agent or cruise know your dietary needs in advance.
  • Don’t gain weigh in a one week cruise.
  • Do book your short scortion.
  • Don’t miss the ship; they are very strict with time. If you do call your travel agent to inform you where is the ship next stop. At your expense.
  • Don’t think there will be nothing to do on board on a port day.
  • Don’t expect to use cash. The ship issue you a card to use as cash, you can transfer money from your bank to this card to use.
  • Don’t be afraid to adjust your tip up or down depend on the service you receive.
  • Don’t expect to find casino on all ship.
  • Don’t expect to find the casino open while on port.
  • Don’t make long distance phone calls, they are too expensive.
  • Do bring a two way family radio if you are traveling with young adults to keep in contact with and give them some space.
